What Are Death and Funeral Benefits?
These are two separate benefits. The Death Benefit provides a lump-sum payment to eligible family members, while the Funeral Benefit helps pay funeral expenses.
| Benefit | Coverage Amount | Who It Helps |
|---|---|---|
| Death Benefit |
$25,000 to an eligible spouse + $10,000 for each dependant.
Increased coverage of $50,000 + $20,000 per dependant is available. |
Eligible spouse and dependants |
| Funeral Benefit | Up to $6,000. Increased coverage up to $8,000 is available. | Helps cover funeral expenses |
Example: A person dies as a result of an automobile accident. If Death and Funeral Benefits were purchased, their eligible family members may receive a lump-sum Death Benefit, while the Funeral Benefit can help with funeral expenses.
Should You Purchase Death and Funeral Benefits?
If your spouse or dependants would be financially affected by your death, we recommend considering Death and Funeral Benefits.
No one wants to think about a fatal accident, but these benefits can provide additional financial support to your family at an extremely difficult time.
